Wisdom teeth dentist
Wisdom teeth are a third set of molars at the back of the mouth. They tend to erupt between the age of 17 and 25, and can be detected with the use of X-rays.
The majority of people decide to extract them for the following reasons:
They are impacted or not fully erupted. At times, wisdom teeth simply don’t fit in the available space and can become stuck in the jaw or gums, which can cause significant pain.
They can be leaning at an incorrect angle, pushing against other teeth.
Insufficient space. Your jaw does not have enough space available for a third set of molars.
Tooth decay or gum disease. In some cases wisdom teeth are incompatible with tooth-brushing and flossing.
