Gingivitis: is the early stage of gum disease, causing the gums to become red, swollen and bleed easily. At this stage there is usually little or no discomfort. Gingivitis is often caused by inadequate oral hygiene. Gingivitis is still reversible at this stage with professional treatment and good oral care at home.

Periodontitis is a severe gum infection that damages the soft tissues and destroys the bone surrounding your teeth. It can cause teeth to become loose and lead to tooth loss.
